New York Noise book
This should be very interesting! From Soul Jazz Records in the UK, a book based on their series of 3 compilations of New York post punk. Lets hope they edit it better than their liner notes usually are.
New York Noise Book
New York Noise describes the period in history (1978-88) where New York art and music collided. Beginning in the mid-70s, Soho and the East Village of New York City became a hot-bed of musical and artistic ideas. Owing to new property laws, Downtown New York and its many warehouse and loft spaces became the home of artists, bands, film-makers, studios, art galleries and more. Paula Court photographed this scene and the book features her amazing photographs of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Suicide, Keith Haring, Glenn Branca, ESG, Madonna, Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, Afrika Bambaataa and more as well as accompanying text from David Byrne, Cindy Sherman and others. The book is now scheduled for release in September.
