Love Saves the Day to close in 2009

This just in from Jeremiah's Vanishing NY:

The long time staple of the East Village independent retail scene, Love Saves the Day, will be closing their doors early next year. Most people, especially outside of New York, will know the store from Madonna's early movie, "Desperately Seeking Susan."

I never really shopped there, only browsing occasionally, but I do have good memories of stealing a christmas tree off a flatbed truck parked outside the store, as well as some christmas lights off of the store awning, back in 1984 or 1985. Whats the statute of limitations for that?
