Richard Hell to release new version of Destiny Street

According to the Guardian, Richard Hell is set to release a new version of his second album, Destiny Street, originally released in 1982.

"At the time of the original recording I was so debilitated by despair and drug-need that I was useless," Hell said. "The record ended up being a high-pitched sludge of guitar noise. It was a shame because the songs were clean, simple, and well-constructed, but those values were sabotaged by the inappropriate arrangements and production."

It sounds like he's gone & used the original rhythm tracks, and with the help of guitarists Bill Frisell, Marc Ribot and original Voidoid Ivan Julian, has cleaned everything up. Original guitarist Robert Quine passed away in 2004.

I'm putting this one on the "Must Get" list. Thanks for the heads up...

I'd like it for the cover alone.
