Always assumed it was a Cyndi Lauper original. Like the Brains version but think Cyndi's has a better sounding vocal in the chorus - more emphatic.
i have never heard The Brains. where are they from? LA?
i see from the comments on youtube that their drummer died in September this year. Charles Wolf. Job well done Charlie.
I think the Brains were from Georgia. One of them went on to be in the Georgia Satellites if you remember them.
