Brief back story - To fairly wide publicity, Lou Reed denies permission for Susan Boyle to release this. He changes his mind and directs the video. Good ol' crazy Lou. Its pretty much easy listening, but the chorus is beautiful and sounds like a holiday hit to me. At least in the UK.

I dn't have the info in front of me but IIRC, it wasn't at all that Lou Reed denied Susan the right to record his song - something that one in fact - in the USA at least - has a statutory right to do, but that his publisher denied her performance rights on the tv show (X factor?). Lou specifically said later that he was never asked. Some bonnie lochs in the vid eh, but chilly!
