Major Harris - RIP
As Andy Schwartz said, "Sorry to learn of that Philadelphia soul singer MAJOR HARRIS III has died at age 65. His sister, Catherine Thomas, told the Associated Press that Harris passed away Friday at a Richmond, Virginia hospital from congestive heart and lung failure. Best known for his million-selling #1 R&B/#5 Pop ballad "Love Won't Let Me Wait" (W.M.O.T./Atlantic, 1975), Harris released non-charting solo singles on Laurie and OKeh; and sang with a succession of groups including the Charmers, the Jarmels, Frankie Lymon's Teenagers, the Delfonics -- and The Nat Turner Rebellion, with whom he made this great record in 1969."
