Weirdly, nobody ever reached out to me for any information or comment for this film. I was his editor at Rolling Stone (as was Greil Marcus, also missing here, before me), and would regularly get huge manila envelopes of manuscripts of this and that from him.
Nice try, I guess, but this film's not going anywhere if the trailer is anything to go by.
Well, from what I can see, the film might be alright, but they seem to be lacking in self-PR. The website isn't very good, there aren't any social media links, etc...Who knows?
Hi Ed- Actually, I'd like very much to talk with you. I'm Raul Sandelin, the film's producer and a professor at Grossmont College, Lester's alma mater in El Cajon, CA. The thing that has really hampered us is funding. We were able to use the college's Media Comm facilities and equipment. But, we don't really have $ for travel, etc. So, the idea was to keep everything within El Cajon...within The Box. But, it definitely makes sense that we should talk. Also, if you have access to video equipment, you could do what Jim Dero did and film your answers to some questions and send us the files. Do me a favor...email me at my Grossmont College email.
