Sighing

I don't know why but I've been sighing all day...I don't really feel like being at work, but at home taking a nap perhaps.

Anyway...maybe it was because I was physically active this weekend? Friday night I helped my friend Rich move out of his place in Brooklyn. He owns a record store called Etherea on Avenue A between 4th & 5th Streets, so you can imagine how many boxes of records & CD's he might have. Well he did. I felt like I was moving myself all over again, and it only confirmed the fact to me that moving is WAY UP THERE on the suck list. But it did feel good to help a friend in need out. I've been in his position many a time so I knew what he needed.

Saturday, I didn't do much other then by the new Neil Young album:

For the record, I don't think it's worth all of the hoopla & good reviews it's been garnering, but I've only listened to it once. I wish I had my car again...I truly miss the quality listening time that driving used to afford me. One reason I was interested in this album was it's supposed to be along the lines of Harvest and Harvest Moon. Harvest Moon especially, I was able to listen to in my car...learned all of the words & sung along. Can't do that anymore.

I also watched a decent DVD rockumentary about the Undertones. Damn were they a good band.

(Teenage Kicks: The Story of The Undertones)

Saturday night we stayed in which was nice for a change.

Sunday I went on a walking tour about organized crime in New York City hosted by my friend Eddie from the band Leeway. Not only was I completely astonished at Eddie's knowledge on the subject, but it was a reunion of sorts for us. We hadn't seen eachother in probably 10 years or so. It was great to see him...(and for all of you hardcore kids out there, he & the band have lots of plans brewing so keep your eye on their mySpace page for news). As for the tour...we covered lots of ground starting in the East Village, through parts of the Lower East Side, and then west/southwest through the edge of Soho into Chinatown and finally the Five Points area. Walking tours are highly underrated...fun, educational and you get some exercise!

After the tour, I stopped by Subterranean Records, and picked up a copy of a Velvet Underground DVD. Then I was off to the Blue Note jazz club to see Bebel Gilberto. She was...shall I say underwhelming? I love her records, but the live presentation left something to be desired. Oh well...maybe if Captain Sensible were playing with her...Ha!

So today I'm a little tired, and don't really like being here at work. But the end of the day is almost upon us, so I'll be home soon.

p.s. Finally the effing Raiders won their first game of the year...not without almost blowing it at the end. But they lived to tell about it. It's about time!
