In light of the Tower story, as well as the Rough Trade 30th anniversary, here's a nice story highlighting some good indie record stores in the UK...(Thank you, Daisy!)
Megastores, internet shopping and downloading have been a disaster for Britain's independent record shops. Many have been forced to close - but not all. Here Laura Barton picks 20 of the best, and finds out what makes them so special to their diehard fans. Read the story here.

I was thinking of some great independent shops in NYC that I would frequent and buy whatever the person behind the counter recommended like 99 Records, Freebeing, Bleecker Bobs, Sounds, Rocks in Your Head - it's like a hall of fame but the only survivor is Sounds (I'm not counting Brooklyn). Small, independent shops are a rarity in NYC.
One day we'll wake up and Manhattan has decided to become part of New Jersey and has been rezoned into a shopping mall and that all the really cool, new stuff is happening in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
