Random CBGB Memories

CBGB goes dark tonight...or early Monday morning more like it. Here are some random memories:

Too many to list really. I'm forty now and have been going there since I was 16 or so. Met Jesse Malin there in 1984 and we still know each other. Many, many gigs - my own, friends and others. Stealing my fathers car when I was in high school and driving into the city to see Sonic Youth was a good one. Was Flipper on that bill? Playing with Kraut and Channel 3. Playing with Heart Attack and HR. Late nights. Hardcore matinees. Calling Louise over & over & over & over & over trying to land that elusive gig. Succeeding once in a while. Divine Comedy at the Gallery and meeting Jarvis Cocker. Died Pretty. Bad Brains. Birdland. Cheap Trick. Mega City Four. Wedding Present. Living Color. Replacements so drunk they could barely play. Hanging out w/Lach & Steve in the dressing room when Captain Sensible walked in on us - how he filled the room with that smile of his!

If I think of others I'll add them. Thank you Hilly Kristal...you have changed our lives! RIP.

Do you have any memories? Leave 'em in the comments box!

I have some silly recollections of CB's.

I remember walking down to the bathroom then turning around and walking right back out... meeting David from Regean Youth and going on my first sorta celebrity date and not knowing what a vegetarian was (so young, so naive!), scanning the Village Voice every week to see who was playing...OG's dad playing there numerous times...

Nice photo, by the way!
