Anyway, to cut to the chase, it turns out that not only will there be a film, but Black Dog Publishing (who recently brought us No Wave, as well as the ongoing series on specific labels) will be putting out a book in June based on Kevin & Emma's travels across the US. Huzzah! The title is based on a beautiful sign that hangs in Etherea Records in New York's East Village - a gift from a mysterious stranger (true!).
In a world where I'm constantly being reminded how bad things are (from the state of the business where most of us make our living, to the constant flux of life in New York City), it was nice to be reminded of why I'm in music in the first place, and that some folks are still managing to make a go of it.
Feel free to pre-order The Independent Record Shop: Old Rare New or add it to your Amazon wishlist.
Don't forget about Record Store Day on April 19. Go to your local record store & say thank you by buying something. You always looked good in black vinyl.
