Small world...

So, did you go to high school with a woman named Karen Nickel? Because she's an old friend here, spotted your name on my blog, and had a rush of memories, which included something called Chappaquiddick + 5.

Now married to a German guy, with a daughter, living about as far away from me as you can live and still be in the Berlin city limits.

Small world...

My response:

Wow...is Nickel her maiden name? I'm racking my brain & Google but can't quite figure it out.

Chappaquiddick +5 was my my band when I was in high school - my attempt at a punk band at the time, 1983-1984. Our big song (which people still mention to me once in a while) was called "Popemobile," and the two greatest things that happened to me at the time was getting our demo reviewed in Maximum R&R, and then receiving a request from Jello Biafra for a copy as a result. I had a little bit of a rep in school..."class individual of 1984" and all.

Small world indeed. Get this...I sell on eBay and am signed up as a trading partner there which means people can contact me to help them sell stuff. The other day I get an email from a woman who wanted to get rid of some records. Turns out that she lives in my building here. Not only that, but we live on the SAME FLOOR! How's that?

Well, then, there's the world of blogging: one of our Berlin bloggers found another English-language blogger whose site he really liked and hipped us all to it. In the course of going about his daily business, he discovered, about a month later, that the site was done by...the guy next door. Literally. Right on his floor of his apartment building. They'd never spoken before, and he had no idea the guy was British.

Hey guys--just stumbled across this conversation. I was in Chappaquiddick + 5 with Tim and also went to high school with Karen. I stayed in touch with her for a while and remember she said she was moving to Germany.

Anyway, as it happens just found this link to the Maximum Rock and Roll review a few minutes ago here:
