Our buddy in blogging, EV Grieve, posted this neat-o film of life in the East Village in 1971. I love the soundtrack.
What I know about 1971 off the top of my head: The Topps baseball cards had a distinctive black border that year, Joey Gallo was released from prison (I just finished the book "Joey" by Donald Goddard), and we had the following albums: IV by Led Zeppelin, Hot Rocks by the Rolling Stones, Who's Next by the Who, Tapestry by Carole King, and Hunky Dory by David Bowie. All in all it was pretty much a non-year culturally (although Hunky Dory was great!). Also, lets not forget Vietnam was still going on.
