Back to basics

I realize it's a bit late in the day to be making gift suggestions for christmas, but I wanted to mention this anyway. For my birthday last month I received this wonderful old fashioned portable record player. It's made by Crosley, looks great and sounds good enough.

I have two turntables set up already, but due to my current living arrangements, the listening pleasure I derive from either of them is usually mediocre at best. However this player has simplified things so much, I'm actually managing to listen to all of the odd & amazing things I pick up at yard & garage sales that have been piling up for ages. It's so easy...all I have to do is open it, turn it on & play the record. It's not exactly high fidelity, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. And it's small enough to pretty much fit anywhere. I'm really looking forward to the spring & summer when I can take it outside.

There's quite a selection to be made of available turntables, and prices are pretty reasonable. View them here.

This is a fantastic endorsement. Thank you. I am in the same boat, and I actually asked my SO to get me one of these turntables for my birthday. I have a turntable hooked up to the stereo in the living room, but it never gets used. So I am glad to hear it is worth it.

Totally worth it CLR! I'm so happy I asked for it & got it. It has a USB port of you want to hook it up to a laptop & make MP3's, but I haven't tried that yet. I'm just happy listening to these old scratchy records.
