After recently posting a video of The Stooges performing "1970" at The Goose Lake Festival, I just happened to find this over the weekend - also recently posted on YouTube. Almost two full hours of performance (including the Stooges footage), and amusing commentary by area residents, of the festival itself which took place August 7, 8, and 9, 1970, in Goose Lake, MI. If you've ever read Grit, Noise, and Revolution: The Birth of Detroit Rock 'n' Roll, you'll have an idea about the trouble referred to at the beginning - reportedly there were plenty of drug related arrests following the festival, and there were bad vibes a-plenty. The film itself focuses more on the people in & around the festival than the performers.
Acts who appeared included The Faces, Jethro Tull, Chicago, Ten Years After, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Mountain, John Sebastian, the James Gang, Bob Seger, the MC5, The Stooges, Detroit (with Mitch Ryder), Brownsville Station, and SRC.
