New York Dancestand

Ok, it's a snowday here in the Big Apple, so here's something I've been meaning to share for a while.

It's a video playlist of some clips from an old NYC cable access program called New York Dancestand. It includes an appearance by Die Hausfrauen, fronted by the childhood version of our friend Vera Beren, who currently plays with the Gothic Chamber Blues Ensemble. She had come across the video of her old band which inspired me to put together this post.

Info on the show is difficult to come by, but I have vague memories of it from the early 80's. I don't believe it ran very long, but they did give some exposure to some deserving bands. The dancing is awfully goofy, but you can't fault the music. And it just shows me, yet again, what a great variety of styles there were in the post punk era...even on the more slightly commercial side of things.
