Julian Cope Live at The Ritz, NYC, 01.28.87

While putting up last night's post with the Teardrop Explodes live set from 1981, I came across this solo Julian show, shot at the Ritz in NYC by MTV, in January of 1987. He was on tour at the time for his third solo album, Saint Julian. I was at this show and don't recall any cameras, but then again it was a very long time ago, and who knows where my head was at this particular evening?

More New York nightclub footage

Following up from the great video from The Tube earlier this summer, here's another find: A trip through more clubs of 1980s New York City, albeit slightly more underground and on the performance art side of things. Included are the Palladium, Limelight, Danceteria, Wah Wah Hut, Mars, The Copa and more. Karen Finley, Ethyl Eichelberger, Michael Musto, Holly Woodlawn, Kenny Kenny, Jayne County, and others make appearances. This montage is from the videos of Nelson Sullivan, created by Robert Coddington for the Avant-Garde-A-Rama at PS 122 NYC.

As an added bonus, here's some sort of TV commercial made for the Ritz (now Webster Hall for those of you who don't know). Judging by the quality, I'd say it was made for cable access.
