TG24: I Hope Your Ears Don't Bleed

TG24 was originally released as a cassette boxed set in 1980. The set contained the first of Throbbing Gristles 24 shows in addition to two C90 cassettes taken from a Throbbing Gristle radio interview. The set was presented in a small attache case with a personalised handmade collage and various autographed pictures.

It's hard to believe 2011 is coming to a close! I wanted to reach out and tell and/or remind you of Psychic TV's upcoming (now annual) show next Thursday, December 15th at Club Europa in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

This year's event will see the release of TWO brand new vinyl 12" records:

• Number two in a three part series of classic reinterpretations, "Mother Sky vs. Alien Sky" features a 16+ minute storming version of the 1970 CAN classic coupled with our epic new track "Alien Sky".

 

• "Thank You (Parts I & II)" is the first release on my new 'handmade' vinyl label. Using primarily recycled materials (vinyl and paper), rubber stamps and photocopies, this release is limited to 230 copies and features an embroidered patch on the front cover as well as handwritten lyrics by Genesis Breyer P-Orridge on the insert.

Our set begins at 11pm and promises to be deeply psychedelic, complete with video projections and some great opening bands (Cult of Youth and Bryin Dall). Our guest musician this year will be John Jackson from Legacy Recordings playing violin on "Alien Sky" (as well as another track we will not announce just yet!).

On another note, Marie Losier's film "The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye" will hit US theaters nationwide via Jeff Lipsky's Adopt Films upon our return from performing at Adelaide Festival in Australia, March 2012. New doc alert - The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye

Visit the official film website here. According to Pitchfork, the film will premiere in February at the Berlin International Film Festival, and on February 19, Genesis and Tony Conrad will perform a violin concert together at Berlin's Haul Theater. More screenings are coming up in France and Spain. Check the film's website for details, and further screenings.

Throbbing Gristle in Brooklyn

Always at the "must see" events, my friend Randy has not one, but two sets of photos from this past weekend's Throbbing Gristle shows here in NYC. Here's the scoop:

"In a move that sent shockwaves (!) through their North American fanbase,
THROBBING GRISTLE performed their first stateside dates this month since
originally breaking up in 1981. The group still includes the original
four members who coalesced in 1976: Genesis P-Orridge, Cosey Fanni
Tutti, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson and Chris Carter. These photos
were taken at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple on Thursday, April 16th.

Shortly after 8:00 PM, TG took the stage and performed their new
soundtrack to the experimental Derek Jarman 1974 film, "In The Shadow of
the Sun." Following the performance, the band did an extremely rare
autograph signing for the massive crowd. The night concluded with an
intoxicating set that included "Very Friendly," "Endless Not," "Almost a
Kiss," "Hamburger Lady," "What a Day," and the closing pounder,
"Discipline," among others.

In addition to gigs in Brooklyn and Manhattan, TG is also playing
Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and the Coachella Festival in
Indio, CA.

Throbbing Gristle To Play First Ever NYC Show, Chicago And San Francisco

After announcing last week that they would be playing this year’s Coachella music festival in April, industrial rockers, Throbbing Gristle have gone and surprised fans once more, booking their first ever New York City appearance.

The U.K. band will be performing at Brooklyn’s Masonic Temple on April 16th before heading out to Cali. After their Coachella performance on April 19th, the band has announced they will play two more dates in the U.S., in Chicago and San Fransisco. Throbbing Gristle has not toured the U.S. since 1981, where they briefly played West coast shows only.

The British band is known as being forefathers of the industrial music scene back in the mid-1970s. Throbbing Gristle broke up, only to reunite in 2004 to record the album TG Now, and have recently released the 30th anniversary edition of The Second Annual Report on 12″ vinyl that includes a live demonstration at La Villette in Paris from June, 2008, and comes with a special extended CD version. The release will be their first since TG Now. The original edition of The Second Annual Report was first released in 1977.
