Wire has made their first new album in three years, Red Barked Tree, available for streaming on the Guardian website. Below is one track, "Two Minutes," and the entire thing can be accessed here. The album will be available for purchase next week on Jan. 11th. The band's current line-up includes Colin Newman, Graham Lewis and Robert Grey.

Some posters - most available #7

I've recently started putting together my lifelong collection of posters with the purpose of trying to sell most of them. I'm open to offers of cash or even a trade if I'm interested in what you have to offer. I don't want to put them on eBay just yet. I've sold posters on eBay before & they can be a pain in the ass. However, if it comes to that, I'll do it eventually.

If you're interested, you can download a close-to-complete list of what I have here. There are no measurements or descriptions, just a list. If you need more information, just ask.

Wire in NYC May 30

(Image of Wire at CBGB 1978 courtesy of Eugene Merinov)

I don't think the River To River shcedule for 2008 has been released yet, but original UK punk band (and arty to the core), Wire, have announced a one off North American show here in New York on May 30. Their most recent newsletter had the following to say:

"New Yorkers may be interested to note that Wire will be headlining a big free festival on May 30th as part of the River to River series. A more wider-ranging visit to North America will take place in October, but no dates are currently conformed. As always, it pays to check back with the website periodically, to see if more dates have been added."

They will have a new album out on July 7, and have plenty of activities scheduled for the year. Visit the band's online home, PinkFlag.com, for details.

Wire

Fresh Air from WHYY, September 27, 2006 - Art-Rock Band Wire's First Incarnation:

Listen to this story... by Ed Ward

The British band Wire is something of an oddity -- a highly influential band hardly known in its home country, and one that has broken up twice, only to come back each time as something totally different.

Three albums by this '70s art-rock band have been reissued and are now available: Pink Flag, Chairs Missing and 154.

Visit Wire's website.

Thanks Maritza.
