I was pleased to recently come across some new music that I'm pretty excited about...the older I get, the less this seems to happen.
Anyway, if you're into the Go Betweens, and Grant McLennan solo stuff, you might like Scottish singer-wongwriter, Freddie Stevenson. John Perry, former lead guitarist with the Only Ones, plays with Freddie which is how I found out about him. I particularly suggest giving a listen to "If You Don't Kiss Me". His album Body On the Line is available on eMusic.com (click banner in upper right corner) or iTunes.
Then there's three young ladies from Portland, Oregon, the New Bloods. If you're into an ESG, Slits, minimal post punk thing then these guys are for you...Many bands claim to be influenced by those types of things, but these guys really have it. They have 2 songs available on their Myspace page and I'm looking forward to more. They're currently touring the west coast now so keep an eye out for them!

Hi!
Thank you for your kind words about the record.
I just wanted to drop you a note to say a) we were supposed to be playing in New York next month but it got moved because we're recording and b) we are definitely going to be playing in NYC in late January if you are around. It'll be me, John, Brady and one of many bass players...
Come say hi, so we (read: my manager!) can buy a round!
All the best,
Freddie
Freddie reminds me of The Lightning Seeds; same clever clear lyrics and you know how I feel about the Scots. Nice find.
