Probably my two fave new bands that I saw in Austin...
Fleet Foxes. Newly signed to Sub Pop, these guys should have an album out in June. They're a bunch of beardy, hippie kids from Washington state who write beautiful melodies and don't sound a little unlike Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. It's nice to know some kids know what harmony is. I hope they stick around for a while. They're capable of some great things.
New Bloods. Another band from the great northwest, this trio of young ladies hails from Portland, Oregon. Very reminiscent of the Raincoats, if you're nostalgic for that late 70's/early 80's post punk, raw Rough Trade sound, these guys are for you. I love 'em. Debut album comes soon on Kill Rock Stars. Check out an MP3 of "Oh, Deadly Nightshade!" here.
