Walter Steding is long known to students of the New York downtown-era as a man about town. He worked for Warhol at the Union Square Factory. With his fiddle, he led the TV Party Orchestra for Glenn O'Brien. He co-starred in Downtown 81. He released records on the Red Star and Animal labels. He's a student of obscure history. He's written a musical. And the entire time he's never stopped painting. In fact, painting is probably the one thing he's always done consistently, and he's done quite well, thank you.
