Happy 10th Anniversary to Stupefaction!

This swell photo of some fellows from the 10th Mountain Division seemed as good as any to tout the fact here that Stupefaction has creaked along to it's tenth anniversary. That's positively ancient in interweb years! So congratulations to me.

I'm not posting a whole lot these days as I'm pretty busy selling records, but I'll take the opportunity to remind you of some of the places you reach me besides here.

I know, I know...things are awfully quiet here. There's a reason for that. I've been lazy busy. But seriously, I'm trying my utmost to balance some things in my life, and just haven't had the time to post here with any regularity recently.

Movie of the Week: The Swimming Pool (and some new music from John Lurie)

I recently got back from a short trip to Miami. While I was there I was messing around with my iPhone camera, and took the opportunity to figure out iMovie. Here's the result...My first movie! The music is by John Lurie, and is used with permission. Thanks John! I hope you enjoy it.

By the way, John has a new collection of out-of-print & previously unreleased live recordings out by the John Lurie National Orchestra. Its entitled The Invention of Animals. Check out some music & get more info at Strange & Beautiful Music.

Happy eight years of Stupefaction to me...I'm not sure how much longer it'll go on, but I'm trying...I'd like to thank everyone who encourages me, and checks it out. I really do appreciate it. Every year, it seems, I go through a period or two of feeling tired about it, and I think about shutting it down, or taking some time away from it, but then something inevitably changes that feeling. I've met a lot of wonderful people, and (I think) turned some folks on to some cool culture. I hope everyone enjoys it...see you tomorrow.

We are ugly but we have the t-shirts

 Well, I have to say I'm very pleased. I was recently contacted by custom t-shirt company ooShirts who offered, in exchange for a mention here on the site, some basically free shirts. I was skeptical at first, but have to say I'm pretty happy. The design interface on their site is easy to use, and the turnaround time was quick as well. Best of all, they did great work with some dodgy (at best images) I sent to them.

The only bad news is that I only had four made...I'll have to figure out if I'm going to be making more. I doubt there's much demand for these but they are pretty cool!

I hope this morning sees everyone safe, sound & relatively sane. Just wanted to point out the fact that we've recently undergone a bit of a renovation here at Stupefaction, and we hope you like the results. HUGE thanks to JC over at Cerysmatic Factory for the help & guidance.

Stupefaction 5th Anniversary

With this, the 2001st post, I wish myself a happy 5 year anniversary on Stupefaction. When I started this blog I really didn't have any agenda or plan in mind. It's been an interesting ride, and I'm pretty pleased with the way it's been going, and what it's become. I thank each & everyone of you who take a moment out of your day to have a look, leave a comment, and let me into your lives. It's not always easy, and sometimes I feel like killing Stupefaction, and starting something new, but those are just thoughts...I'm looking forward to what the future holds, and I'll do that right here.
