Nectarine No.9 to perform first gig in 10 years!

The Nectarine No.9 have announced their first gig in ten years, and will be performing their amazing Saint Jack album in full at Rutherglen Town Hall, in Glasgow, on June 7th. The album was originally released on the short-lived reincarnated Postcard label back in 1995. Special special guests include Casual Sex, and tickets are available here. If I had dough to burn I would definitely fly over for this one.

For those who don't know, Nectarine No.9 is lead by Davey Henderson, and followed his stints with the Fire Engines, and Win, and preceded his somewhat current band, Sexual Objects - although its sometimes hard to tell with him whats current.

Just Because: The Fire Engines

What sort of crazy place lets a band like the Fire Engines on television? Wow...here they are, circa 1981, performing their final single, "Big Gold Dream."

It's a Scottish thing, he's a Scottish man

Lots & lots of Davy Henderson action going on around certain quarters. First of all, his fourth band within the last 30 years, Sexual Objects (following Fire Engines, Win, and Nectarine No.9), has just released their debut album, Cucumber. It's currently available via iTunes (US here, UK here).

Recently RPM/Cherry Red Records reissued Win's second album, Freaky Trigger. The two Win album's have both been long out of print. Let's hope RPM is able to work out getting the first one, Uh! Tears Baby, back in print as well.

And lastly, Friend of the Blog(©) Kevin, over at Your Heart Out, has just posted an excellent appreciation of Davy and Nectarine No.9's incredible Saint Jack album. Saint Jack was originally released way back in 1995 on the short lived second version of the Postcard label, and has recently been reissued digitally via the new digital-arm of the Creeping Bent label, We Can Still Picnic. Check out some song clips over at Amazon. It's hard to believe it's been that long. Read and/or download a free copy of Kevin's tribute here.
