Julian Cope Live at The Ritz, NYC, 01.28.87

While putting up last night's post with the Teardrop Explodes live set from 1981, I came across this solo Julian show, shot at the Ritz in NYC by MTV, in January of 1987. He was on tour at the time for his third solo album, Saint Julian. I was at this show and don't recall any cameras, but then again it was a very long time ago, and who knows where my head was at this particular evening?

The Teardrop Explodes Live at Left Bank, Mt. Vernon, NY, 03.07.81

Here's a treat I just stumbled upon - a 1981 FM radio broadcast of the Teardrop Explodes at the Left Bank in Mount Vernon, NY. As the uploader says, '...recorded on their first American trek. Kilimanjaro had been out for a good year or so, and as such many classics-to-be make an obligatory appearance in the set, but the Mt. Vernon crowd also got a preview of the band's next album, Wilder. "Treason," "Sleeping Gas," and "When I Dream" are all present and accounted for, and save for some slight radio static here and there the sound is impeccable.'

Setlist

01. Like Leika Khaled Said
02. Reward
03. The Thief of Baghdad
04. Sleeping Gas
05. Passionate Friend
06. Suffocate
07. Poppies in the Field
08. Ha Ha I'm Drowning
09. Treason
10. Screaming Secrets
11. When I Dream
(Encore Break)
12. The Great Dominions

Ephemera Friday - UK post punk gigs Pt. 2

1981

Following last week's Ephemera Friday post, here are some more amazing images from Dave at Fruitier Than Thou. I especially love the Wah! poster, and the Teardrop Explodes tour booklet cover for which Dave has been kind enough to scan in it's entirety. I may need to run that sometime in the near future.
